Dean Simpson, Managing Director of Copernus, will step down from his role in October 2026 after more than 10 years leading the company. His successor will be Jeff Milner, current Finance Director of Copernus, who will take responsibility for the continued growth of the business.

The change in the Managing Director position marks a natural stage in Copernus’ history, following a period of significant transformation for the company in recent years. An important milestone was the acquisition of the business by Polish salmon processor Suempol in 2024 and its subsequent integration into the structures of the Suempol Group.

Following the acquisition, Dean Simpson remained with the business, supporting the integration process and ensuring stability during the transition period. Together with Suempol, it was agreed that the time was right to transfer responsibility for the day-to-day management of Copernus.

In his role as Finance Director, Jeff Milner has worked closely with Dean Simpson for many years, actively supporting the company’s growth and strengthening its position in the market. His appointment ensures continuity of operations and a stable transition into the next chapter of the company’s history as part of the Suempol Group.

Dean Simpson said:

“After more than a decade as Managing Director of Copernus, I feel that the time is right for both me and the business to make this change. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved at Copernus and, in particular, of the team we have built together. The company has changed significantly over recent years, and becoming part of the Suempol Group was another important milestone in this journey.”

“I am pleased that Jeff will take on the role of Managing Director. We have worked closely together for over a decade and he knows Copernus, our customers and our people extremely well. I am confident that he is the right person to lead the company forward, and I look forward to watching its continued development as part of the Suempol Group.”

Maciej Jaworowski, Vice President of the Management Board of Suempol, said:

“Dean has made an enormous contribution to the development of Copernus and leaves the company in a very strong position. His extensive knowledge, experience and commitment have played a key role in shaping the company and building strong foundations for its further growth. Since Suempol acquired Copernus in 2024, we have built a very strong relationship, and I would personally like to thank Dean for his openness, support and commitment throughout the integration process of both organisations.”

“We fully respect Dean’s decision to step away from the day-to-day management of Copernus and take some time with his family. Dean has extensive experience in the seafood industry, which over the years he has contributed to the development of the company and the wider Suempol Group. He remains part of the Suempol Group family, and we hope that our relationship and cooperation will continue in the future. We are also very pleased that Jeff has agreed to take on the role of Managing Director. His experience and deep knowledge of Copernus will ensure important continuity and stability for the company as it begins the next chapter of its history.”
